Following instructions from higher authorities, we undertook the task of producing the "best cigarette brand." In 1950, the state-owned Zhonghua Tobacco Company accepted the task of developing "Zhonghua Brand Cigarettes." The team assigned to this task was led primarily by Section Chief Wang Chenghan of the Factory Affairs Department of Zhonghua Company, with Zhu Zunquan (academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, former director of the Zhengzhou Tobacco Research Institute) and Ding Ruikang responsible for specific work such as the tobacco blend formulation
